The Alterre launch party was an eclectic gem!
Earlier this week I mentioned that I wanted to share a special event with you. Now I can finally let you know that I was invited to the Alterre launch party for NYFW! If you aren’t already aware of this brand don’t worry I’ll bring you up to speed! Alterre is a stylish and customizable shoe brand for the modern woman. Helmed by Shilpa Iyengar and Harmony Takaishi Pilobello, who also run the Young Designers Collective, their aim is to “make comfortable, fashionable, and functional shoes” and I think they achieved just that!

With just a few easy steps you can change-up the look of your shoe. Add a different strap style or change the color of your base and voila – an entirely new shoe! Check out a video of just how easy it is here. When ordering a pair you can pick which shoe base you’d like to start off with in one of 3 colors (black, grey and blush). You then pick which strap style you’d like and you’re done. It’s such a great idea and I can’t wait to see which other styles they come up with. The options are endless and with their current selection there are over 65 combinations for you to try out!
Alterre makes customizable shoes for the modern woman who wants quality and variety. Click To TweetNow you can have multiple styles in one shoe. Just imagine how much space you’ll save in your suitcase when you plan your next getaway. You already know that overpacking is in my nature but with shoes like these in my arsenal that could very well change.

Currently they have shoes named after iconic women like Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Tilda Swinton, Marilyn Monroe and Billie Holiday. The Alterre launch party showed off these different styles and was held in the city at the Norwood Club in Chelsea. When I first walked up to the location it looked like I might be entering someones home. The brownstone was unassuming but once I was inside I knew I was at the right place. All attendees were instructed to give a secret password at the door and were then ushered into an intimate speakeasy setting. There was colorful artwork all over the walls and jazz music playing along with a dance troupe who rocked the night away wearing Alterre shoes.

The speakeasy theme of the Alterre launch party was chosen as an homage to their Billie shoe style. Throughout the night I also discovered a few other similar details chosen with the shoes in mind. The cocktails (Manhattan, Gimlet and Hanky Panky) were picked to represent the different shoes and there was also a fun postcard stand with quotes from the iconic women to go along with their namesake shoes.

Overall I had a great time at the Alterre launch party for NYFW. I met a couple of wonderful bloggers named Tara and Carolyn who were bundles of fun and I had a lovely time extensively talking to the shoe designers, Harmony and Shilpa. They were incredibly friendly and very welcoming. They put on a great event and I’m more than happy to share this brand with all of you. I know what you’re thinking – this company sounds amazing! The idea is definitely a game changer and what makes it better is that 5% of the profits go to Restore NYC, which is a charity that aims to end sex trafficking and aid survivors. Giving back and staying stylish is my idea of a good time!
