Must See Acts at Panorama

A bit of a late edit but the beach and the sand called and well, sometimes life is best lived instead of scheduled. I mentioned how my Summer was going to be more spontaneous than usual and this later release of the 10 Must See Acts at Panorama is the first sign of that.

For those of you that don’t know, Panorama is a New York City music, tech and arts festival held at Randall’s Island. The festival’s inception met a bit of controversy not too long ago when reps from Governors Ball Music Festival, also held in NYC, complained that Panorama might cannibalize their ticket sales.

There were other complaints but in the end the festival got the green light and will debut this upcoming weekend. This three-day festival is headlined by Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, and Kendrick Lamar.

The lineup is pretty well-rounded. Major acts like A$AP ROCKY, FKA TWIGS, and Sia will perform as well as rising talent and renowned underground artists from different genres.

Technology & Art

Panorama also showcases The Lab, an interactive tech installation, that separates it from Gov Ball and other fests. The Lab is brought to the festival through a partnership with HP. Another big part of Panorama is the exclusive work done by New York based-artists.

One of the more interesting installations, Hyper Thread, includes a silk dome with hammock swings. The movement of the swings alters music. LED colors oscillate along with the hammock movements and create a soothing place to relax in between sets. How cool does that sound?

Music Festivals are here one minute and gone the next and Panorama is just getting started. By adding the tech element it’s attempting to offer something new to the Tri-State area. This weekend we’ll see how the masses react to it.
