Let’s play with light, dark and shadow in today’s music playlist!
Sometimes when I put together a list of tunes for all of you I share what I’m currently listening to. Other times I’ll share songs that illustrate a certain tone, mood or theme. You can check out a few of my past playlists here and here. In today’s music playlist let’s take a look at how visually stimulating a little light, or the absence of it, can be and how music can be enhanced and transformed by it. When you hear a song, you might get a darker vibe from it or you might connect it to something you’ve personally felt. Once you see the music video for that same song you’re not only able to piece together the story that the artist intended to portray, but you’re also able to escape into another world for a couple of minutes.
Whether it’s a dark fortress with a golden goddess, a shadow filled room of lovers, a singular light, or a highlighted silhouette, the visual impact of that light continues throughout. When less is visible on the screen your eyes are allowed to take a bit of a break and your mind can really hone in on the music. I love all of the benefits of technology but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that because of it, my eyes are on assault all day. Why not take a look at something that it a bit less visually taxing and update your iTunes library at the same time?
In today’s music playlist most of the songs have a darker tone to them so I thought it would be fun to end it with a popular bonus tune with an upbeat tone. Keep in mind that some of the songs featured in today’s music playlist are relatively new, some are old and from varying music styles. This week scroll on down and give your ears a bit of bliss in the form of Snow Ghosts, BANKS, Ellie Goulding, Marina and the Diamonds, Ariana Grande and listen to all featured artists on Spotify!
