New Year, New Music + Meet Desi Raines!

New year? New you? New web design? I hope that you had an excellent start to the new year and a wonderful close to 2015 but I also hope that you set attainable goals for yourself. Don’t set yourself up for failure. If you want to reach for the stars then do so but I’d advise that you set up a few smaller tasks along the way toward those big dreams. At the close of the year we hashed out the best singles and albums of 2015, took a look through my outfits and were introduced to my long-lost lover – art!
As the holiday fervor continues to die down it’s time to get back into our routines and for Violet Roots that means starting the week off with a fresh music playlist for you to enjoy. Hopefully you can get re-acquainted with songs you already love or discover a new act or two!
Speaking of discovering new music. . .recently I was introduced to Desi Raines! Desi was brought to my attention recently by his representatives and his new track, “Breaking My Heart” stood out to me. It’s a nice tune with a smooth beat that focuses on letting Desi’s voice shine instead of going the more overproduced route that, unfortunately, quite a few current songs have. It reminds me of some of the songs my mother listened to when I was younger. Just to note, my mother is in her mid forties, so a lot of the songs I grew up listening to were R&B numbers from the mid 90s – early 2000’s. There is a nostalgic quality to this song that speaks to me on a personal level, but I’m sure you all will enjoy it too!
If you’d like to check out Desi for yourself his EP, Unboxing, is available now on Soundcloud! You can also find him on Instagram, Twitter and his website.
Some of the songs featured in this playlist are relatively new, some are old and from varying music styles. This week scroll on down and give your ears a bit of bliss in the form of Desi Raines, Mapei, Elliot Moss & Pale. You can also listen to all the featured artists on Spotify!
What do you think of Desi Raines? Have any new year goals? What do you think of the new design?
