LAST MINUTE CREATIVE GIFT GUIDE

Maybe you’re ahead of the game and have all your presents picked out for the holidays. Or, maybe procrastination is your middle name and you don’t even know where to begin. No matter what your situation is this last minute creative gift guide is exactly what you need!

Plus, who knows, maybe you’ll find something that would look great on your wall or in your own closet too!

Before we get to the amazing gifts I lined up let’s back up a bit and explain why I’m even sharing this with you.

If you’ve been following on with Violet Roots for a while then you’ll know that community is a major part of this blog. Rather than making this space the “Monika show” I’d much rather put the focus on the many other creative women both in and outside of this community.

With the holiday’s coming up I thought it would be a fantastic idea to take a break from the regular schedule in order to spotlight some incredible makers and small biz shakers. You’ll get to see their products, learn about their inspiration and more! The items below range from jewelry to art to clothes and cater to just about every taste.

So, with that being said, check out this last minute creative gift guide below! Prices range from $10 to $3000.

KATRINA NISWANDER ART & DESIGN

Katrina || Toledo, Ohio || Website || Instagram || Facebook

PROMO: Use code TREAT16 for 16% off anything in my Etsy shop through the end of the year.

Bio: I’m Katrina Niswander and I am an artist, cat lady, and all-around design nerd. I have been obsessed with old photos for as long as I can remember! My grandparents were antique dealers and I have vivid memories of spending hours going through boxes upon boxes of old objects.

Of all the things I found the old discarded photos caught my attention most. Now I create artwork; “rescuing” the figures – often of unknown origin – and giving them new life in my portraits. My new favorite thing is to use user submitted images for my subjects!

Inspiration: My main inspiration is old photography and antique objects, but I also pull from a lot of different sources. I adore textiles and often find color and textural inspiration in clothing and fiber art. I also find interior design quite compelling and am fascinated by where my art might end up, and how my audience might choose to display it in their homes.

Materials: As a mixed media artist. My materials vary. I use a mixture of acrylic, gouache, watercolor, pen and ink, colored pencil, graphite, and most recently oil pastel. I often work on paper but sometimes create work on fabric and wood panel.

The Love More Shop

Last Minute Creative Gift Guide - Still need to buy gifts? Use this last minute creative gift guide to check off the names left on your holiday shopping list! Includes art, clothes & more!

Amanda || Hood River, Oregon || Facebook || Instagram || Facebook

Bio: I started Love More not because I have a perfect image of a happy and sweet family because sometimes we are very far from it. I started it because I know how difficult raising a family is. Every family’s struggle is different and every family faces different challenges that push them to grow together or let themselves be torn apart.

There isn’t anything that makes you more frustrated or more insane than trying to do life while living so intimately with other humans trying to do life; and at the same time, there is nothing that makes you happier or more content than your family.

I started Love More because we all need to be reminded to love more in the rough times, not aim to appear perfect to the rest of the world.

Giving back to parents to spend intentional time together and nurture their love is our way of helping people in an incredibly important yet rarely thought about way. Raising good people requires parents to be loving and grounded. To do this, parents need to take care of each other and of themselves to be their best selves for their children.

Inspiration: Your kids push your buttons and your partner/lover/bff makes you feel like you could literally explode at any moment? You sometimes (often) need to be reminded to love them more? Yea, I feel you. The Love More Shop is a love inspired brand that reminds people to love their family, friends, and world more each day because creating empathetic, kind, whole human beings starts in a loving home. Our shirts remind each other to love a little more each day – because there is ALWAYS more love and sweetness to give.

You want to teach your kids to be kind, compassionate creatures that always choose the path of love. So do we and to do this, parents have to take care of each other. For every item sold we will put $1 in a Love Fund and each time the love fund reaches $100 we will send a lucky winner a gift card to go on a date with their partner and nurture their love for each other.

Materials: All designs are original and printed (when available) on materials made in the USA. We also source local artisans to create jewelry and cloth banners, with our message, to hang in your home.
