It’s Easter already?!
I’m not sure about you guys but I feel like this year is moving pretty quickly!
Spring has sprung, April is moving along at full speed and Easter has come and gone. Speaking of spring and Easter, I feel like I must confess that although I love pastels and soft hues on other people I rarely wear them myself. It’s not because I don’t like them I just always gravitate towards darker colors or more vibrant hues. I guess pastels just don’t pack the right kind of punch for me.
With that being the case the same can be said for my opinion on florals. When I was younger I went through a phase where I wore mostly black and the idea of wearing a dress or skirt without pants underneath made me break out in hives. I know that the dress/pants combo is a “trend” now but back in the early 2000s when I used to wear this combo I received a lot of odd stares. It was my middle school/early high school years and I think I was just rebelling away from the girly pinks my mother would always dress me in. Pink has and will always be her favorite color but as soon as I was allowed to pick out my own clothes it was the last thing I wanted to wear. Plus, how was I supposed to be mosh pit ready in a frilly dress?! Haha.
Eventually I started to work my way back to incorporating a few feminine things in my wardrobe and shed my phobia of wearing skirts with bare legs. Colors started to pop into my closet and slowly I began to collect more dresses than jeans. Still when it comes to florals I gravitate toward darker prints more than I do the more typical spring variety.
With a darker inspiration in mind we snapped these shots at the end of our Easter celebration after the super competitive egg hunt passed and copious amounts of sweet treats were consumed. The treats at the end of the hunt were of course the best part!

What about you? Are you into pastels or do you just do your own thing regardless of the season?
